(Press Release) – Gov. Eloy S. Inos and Lt. Gov. Jude U. Hofschneider through the Department of Commerce-Central Statistics Division have announced the completion and release of the 1st and 2nd Quarterly Report 2013 Consumer Price Index.

In this report, the all-items index for Saipan increased 13.6 percent since the rebase in the 4th Quarter of 2008, with an increase of 16.5 percent in Tinian and 10.5 percent in Rota since 1st Quarter 2010.

The offices of Rota and Tinian Mayors helped complete the report with the support of their statisticians out of their commerce department, while undergoing a recertification on the CPI as well during their visit to Saipan.

Kent Atalig of Rota and Vicenta San Nicolas of Tinian, both from their respective Commerce offices, successfully completed the workshop/training which is crucial to sustaining the quality of the CNMI CPI program.

“The partnership is part of the collaborative efforts between the Secretary of Commerce and the mayors, to include cross-trainings and building capacity and resources of the Commerce Department on Rota and Tinian,” said Central Statistics Division Director Alfonis Sound.

The complete report on the CPI 1st and 2nd quarter is available online at the Department of Commerce website at:  http://ver1.cnmicommerce.com/divisions/central-statistics/
