Behavioral Health Survery
(Office of the Governor) — The CNMI Department of Commerce’s Central Statistics Division, in collaboration with the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.’s Project Brabu Office, would like to inform the public of the upcoming 2013 CNMI Behavioral Health Survey.
The purpose of the survey is to collect cross-sectional data to produce statistical descriptions of behavioral health topics — the use and attitudes toward the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs and mental health and stigma — of the adult population in the CNMI.
This data will then be used by CHC and other officials to produce the National Outcome Measures for the commonwealth in the areas of behavioral health. The survey will help determine priority health issues and develop strategic plans to support appropriate public health policies and monitor the effectiveness of intervention measures and the achievement of prevention programs.
“To successfully complete this survey, an estimate of 760 to 900 homes on Saipan and 130 to 200 homes on the islands of Tinian and Rota will be selected randomly to be visited by enumerators with proper identification and documentation from our office,” stated Commerce Secretary Sixto K. Igisomar. “If your household is selected, we humbly ask for your cooperation. Your participation is critical for the successful completion of this survey.”
The survey will start on July 13, 2013. The project is being funded by CHC through a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant.
