Release of 2013 3rd and 4th Quarter CPI and EI Reports

Capitol Hill, Saipan – On behalf of the Governor, Honorable Eloy S. Inos, and Lieutenant Governor, Honorable Jude U. Hofschneider, the CNMI Department of Commerce’s Central Statistics Division (CSD) is releasing the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the Economic Indicators (EI) Reports for 2013 3rd and 4th Quarter. These publications will replace the partial versions or the snapshots that were posted on the Statistics Facebook site at: https://www.facebook.com/CNMI.Statistics

The statistical information reflected in the CPI publication contains information that measure quarterly changes in prices of goods and services, which represents purchases by households in the CNMI.

The EI depicts the social and economic conditions of the CNMI from data collected and tabulated by the CSD, with contributions from other CNMI departments and agencies, as well as inputs from private organizations.

These quarterly reports are essential information for the public, the business community and our policy makers for reference in making sound decisions.

“Despite predominant urgencies, shortage of staff and resources, CSD continues to strive to meet its benchmarks as set forth in the Statistical Act in publishing mandated quarterly reports,” stated the Acting Secretary of Commerce, Mr. Francisco D. Cabrera and Acting Director CSD, Mr. Alfonis Sound, “Not an easy task especially when other demands exist from other funded projects but the crew manage as much as they can.”

Report will be available for public consumption on Oct. 31, 2014 at the following link:
